Older Adults Home Modification Grant Program

The Department of Housing and Urban Development is accepting applications for the Older Adults Home Modification Grant Program. The program supports nonprofit organizations, state and local governments, and public housing authorities in helping low-income older adults remain safely in their homes. Through low-cost, high-impact modifications, it aims to reduce fall risks, improve accessibility and safety, and help older adults age in place rather than move to a facility-based care setting. Applications are due August 31, 2026.

Innovative Coordinated Access and Mobility (ICAM) Pilot Program

The Federal Transit Administration is accepting applications for the FY 2026 Notice of Funding Opportunity for the Innovative Coordinated Access and Mobility (ICAM) Pilot Program. Funding will support innovative capital projects that expand access to coordinated transportation and non-emergency medical transportation for transportation-disadvantaged populations, including older adults, people with disabilities, and people with low incomes. Applications are due September 9, 2026.

Available Transportation Resources

According to the Caregiving in the U.S. 2025 report from AARP and the National Alliance for Caregiving, 79 percent of the nation’s 63 million family caregivers provide transportation for an older adult or a person with a disability. To help caregivers explore additional options, AARP’s June article, “Transportation Services Caregivers Need to Know,” reviews the pros and cons of six ways older adults can get to medical appointments, social activities, errands and other community destinations.

Colorado Toolkit for the Working Caregiver

The Colorado Respite Coalition released an updated toolkit that offers practical strategies and resources to help employers support working caregivers. The toolkit focuses on helping employees balance work and caregiving responsibilities while protecting workforce well-being and organizational stability.

2026 Sandwich Generation Caregiver Report from Care.com

A report from Care.com explores the experiences of family caregivers who support both children and aging loved ones and found that these individuals spend nearly a full day each week providing care and often experience emotional, financial and workplace strain. Many need respite care but are unsure how to access it. Despite these demands, many caregivers also report personal growth and are calling for stronger support from families, employers and communities.

The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, a 2025–2026 C3 grantee, was featured in the January/February edition of Generations Magazine for its garden-based Memory Café serving people living with dementia and their caregivers. The Hoʻōla ʻĀina Pilipili (Healing Garden) at UH Mānoa is an accessible, community-grounded garden that promotes wellness, connection and belonging. Its Cultivating Care: A Memory Café initiative brings together people living with memory loss, caregivers and student volunteers for outdoor, nature-based activities and meaningful social engagement.
