In terms of Community Care Corps, medical advocacy refers to acting on behalf of an individual in medical or clinical decision-making or communications. Because C3 services are nonmedical, volunteers may support access to care, such as providing companionship, transportation or appointment preparation, but may not advocate, advise, or communicate with health care providers on a participant’s behalf regarding medical treatment or decisions.
