New National Report Sheds Light on Caregiving in the United States
AARP and the National Alliance for Caregiving recently released Caregiving in the U.S. 2025, which reveals that 63 million Americans—nearly one in four adults—are providing care to someone living with a chronic condition or disability. This represents a 45 percent increase over the past decade.
Family caregivers are taking on more complex responsibilities than ever before, from assisting with daily activities and personal care to managing medical tasks, coordinating services, and advocating with health care providers. The report emphasizes the financial, emotional, and physical toll this can take, while underscoring the urgent need for stronger policies and systems to support caregivers.
These findings mirror what C3 grantees are seeing across the country. Volunteers provide practical, person-centered support that eases the burden on family caregivers, helps older adults and adults with disabilities maintain independence, and strengthens community connections.

C3 Brings Volunteer Power to Chicago
In July, the Community Care Corps (C3) team headed to Chicago for USAging’s 50th Annual Conference and Tradeshow to lead a session titled “Volunteer Power Supporting Healthy Community Living.” We shared how C3’s volunteer-driven models align with the priorities in the National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers and how they make a difference in communities nationwide.
During the session, we highlighted evaluation findings, shared video stories from caregivers and gave examples of how grantees are sustaining and expanding their work to reach more people, engage new volunteers, and improve health outcomes. Participants left with practical tools and ideas to help tailor services, coordinate volunteer assistance and adapt resources for their own communities.
If you missed the session or want to revisit the materials, you can access the presentation and related resources in the C3 .
Grantee Spotlight: Seniors in Service
An article from Bay News 9 highlights the work of a current C3 grantee, Seniors in Service, in Tampa, FL. Their Senior Disaster Support Program helps older adults prepare for hurricane season by walking them through evacuation planning, flood-zone awareness, legal rights and CPR training.
The program has reached 12 senior communities, providing residents with not only important information but also a sense of confidence and connection as they prepare together. It is a great example of how C3 grantees are helping people stay safe and supported when it matters most!
