Annie Teer, Volunteer Coordinator with ALS Northwest, stopped by KOIN 6 to discuss the impact of their Helping Hands volunteers. Annie also shared about ALS Northwest’s opportunity to be at the Standard Volunteer Expo in Portland, OR on September 5, 2025.

ALS Northwest’s Community Care Corps helps people living with ALS and their caregivers by matching them with trained volunteers who provide nonmedical assistance — things like hands-on help with daily tasks, companionship, and emotional support. The program emphasizes peer connection through “Caregiver Mentor” volunteers and Helping Hands volunteers to reduce caregiver burden, enhance quality of life, and extend independence. It also leverages group opportunities and sustained volunteer recruitment to expand reach across Oregon and Southwest Washington.
